The legendary Savva restaurant, located in the heart of Moscow, reopened its doors after a two-year renovation on International Chef's Day, October 20, 2020. The restaurant, named after the famous philanthropist Savva Mamontov, is located in the "Metropol" hotel, across from the Bolshoi Theatre. The driving force and key figures behind the project are restaurateur Arkady Novikov and chef Andrey Shmakov. The restaurant's menu features four "stories" (sections) created by the chef, each with its own name and style: "Healthy Lifestyle," "Dacha" (country house), "Farm," and "Russia." Each section offers four dishes. If a guest doesn't want to "travel" through the stories, they can choose individual items from sections such as the Raw Bar, Natura, "Caviar," "Hot Dishes," and more. The menu is updated seasonally. A special feature of the new restaurant is the chef's table, located on the second floor. Here, Andrey Shmakov creates another experience: guests can feel as if they've stepped into the chef's home, with a relaxed, comfortable, and friendly atmosphere. The extensive renovation of the restaurant resulted in a completely updated interior, designed by a talented team of architects and designers, including Irina Glik. The creative team visually lightened the space by carefully placing accents. The overall tone is light gray, while the focus remains on the magnificent painted ceiling and marble columns with gilded capitals, which are carefully preserved by the Society for the Preservation of Historical Monuments. The restaurant has two floors. The first floor, formal and elegant, is perfect for special occasions and thoughtful tastings. The second floor is more intimate, resembling a private club with a fireplace, rugs, and comfortable armchairs. This is an ideal space for business dinners and romantic encounters. On October 14, an awards ceremony was held in the "Zaryadye" park, where Michelin stars were awarded to Moscow restaurants and chefs. The SAVVA restaurant was awarded one star.
