About
"China" restaurant near Chistye Prudy – not cliché, but with wontons and other interesting Asian dishes, and an almost authentic Chinatown atmosphere.
A new project with a completely unique concept, from the owners of Mandy's Group (Mandy's Apothecary and Caffé Mandy's), has opened this summer in a historic building near Chistye Prudy: Wontoneria. The interior features a mix of traditional Chinese snack bar elements and contemporary design, interpreted through the lens of modern art by the architectural firm ANZA, led by Anastasia Zemlyanskaya. The wooden arched windows of the 1917 building, the columns inside that separate the open kitchen from the dining area, are covered with Moroccan plaster, featuring original bas-reliefs depicting the restaurant's mascots – stylized wontons. The dining room features dark wood furniture and numerous decorative elements collected from vintage markets, and the walls are adorned with modern art, including a central piece created by artificial intelligence, depicting the unique atmosphere of the wontoneria. The studio "the nineteen design" is responsible for the striking and memorable branding. All of this creates an immersive experience, transporting you to one of Chinatown's districts, surrounded by art objects, where everyone can relax and watch the chefs at work, or quickly grab their order and wait at the counter – in the best traditions of China. The head chef is Andrey Zelenkov. He has developed a special menu centered around a single product: wontons, served in several variations with different fillings – shrimp and pork, beef, chicken, or vegetables. In addition, they offer rare dishes prepared according to authentic Chinese recipes – smashed cucumbers in lime sauce, cold tofu with chili, soybean sprouts in sesame sauce, dan dan noodles, or corn soup with crab. The bar menu at Wontoneria, as is typical for street food establishments, focuses on classic alcoholic beverages. That's why head bartender Evgeny Maltsev (Mandy's Apothecary, Caffé Mandy's) chose simple, two-ingredient cocktails: gin and tonic, whiskey and cola, vodka and soda, as well as still and sparkling wines, and draft beer. The bar also offers a variety of bottled Asian soft drinks, beer, and cider. And for those who want something refreshing, there are signature non-alcoholic options, the recipes of which will change regularly. For example, homemade jasmine iced tea with yuzu and tapioca pearls, or Hongkong milk tea made with Thai orange tea, spices, and condensed milk. The unique features don't end there – the project has its own ambassador who, through social media, will immerse guests in the atmosphere and life of the restaurant. Wontoneria undoubtedly aspires to be the best Chinese street food restaurant in the city, a place where everyone will want to return for a serving of wontons and a unique atmosphere unlike any other restaurant project in Moscow. You can order takeout for a picnic and enjoy the warm summer sun, and the option to order frozen wontons with detailed instructions allows you to prepare perfect wontons at home.
