Subzero Izakaya-Bar
About
The Subzero project team, which recently opened its flagship restaurant in Moscow, invites you to a new izakaya-style bar. Izakaya is a popular bar format in Japan, where guests go after work to relax and enjoy drinks in a casual atmosphere. The Subzero izakaya-bar is a slice of Japan in Moscow: it's a place where you can enjoy Japanese beer or sake, socialize with friends, and spend time in a relaxed setting. The Subzero project is well-known among connoisseurs of St. Petersburg cuisine: people from the capital would travel specifically to enjoy the author's rolls and sushi. This summer, the restaurant opened in Moscow, on Petrovka Street. Now, a traditional Japanese izakaya-bar has been added to it, located on the minus-one floor. The Moscow Subzero is a flagship project, and it's here that the creators have realized their dream of an authentic Japanese bar. The semi-private izakaya-bar at Subzero is a project within a project: it allows you to mentally transport yourself to the Land of the Rising Sun and enjoy the simplicity and warmth of small Japanese bars. Up to 30 guests can be seated around the bar and at the small tables. You can stop by after dinner at Subzero, or come specifically for a couple of cocktails or a glass of sake with friends. Overall, this place is perfect for both starting and ending the evening. Additionally, you can easily host a celebration with colleagues or a friendly gathering here, as it offers all the necessary amenities. The bar's menu is completely different from the menus of the Subzero restaurants, both in St. Petersburg and Moscow. The focus is on simple dishes meant for sharing, which are perfect as appetizers to complement the diverse range of drinks offered at the bar. The portions are small, but the prices are very reasonable. To start, you might order kimchi (210 rubles), hand rolls with crab (450 rubles), or tofu (230 rubles), Asian cucumbers (170 rubles), or a delicate green salad with tuna and eel (470 rubles). From the hot dishes, consider the traditional ramen with tofu (390 rubles) or chicken (450 rubles), pork ribs with daikon (550 rubles), or broccoli in a nut sauce (250 rubles). If you want more substantial dishes, you can always order food from the main restaurant menu of Subzero. By the way, dishes and drinks from the izakaya can also be ordered in the restaurant during the bar's opening hours. The selection of drinks at the Subzero izakaya-bar is truly impressive: it includes several varieties of Japanese beer and whiskey, as well as various types of sake to suit every taste, and creative cocktails with unusual ingredient combinations. Those who like to experiment can try the Chio Chio San (550 rubles) or Aokigahara (550 rubles) cocktails, while those who prefer classics can opt for the intriguing Negroni (550 rubles) or the summery Aperol Spritz (550 rubles). The bar's interior is calm, understated, and minimalist: there's nothing superfluous, everything is designed for relaxation and enjoyment. The bar is open every day until 00:00 from Sunday to Thursday, and until 2:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. The atmosphere of a dimly lit izakaya with red lanterns, a table with snacks, sake-based cocktails, and comfortable chairs – this is the recipe for the perfect autumn evening in the style of Haruki Murakami.
