About
Burger joint and video arcade with a 1990s vibe
The burger joint and video arcade is a new concept for Moscow. Dmitry Levitsky and Gosha Karpenko (HURMA Group) created "Hamburgers" as a continuation of the story of "Alko-bufet Shashlychnaya" and "GorBufet Pelmennaya," which pay homage to the 1960s of the Soviet Union. "Hamburgers" embraces the aesthetics of the 1990s: collages of foreign cans and imported cigarette packs, posters of Jean-Claude Van Damme and Madonna, hamburgers with french fries, milkshakes, and movies dubbed by Vladimir Valadarsky on a VHS player. Are the 90s making a comeback? Ivan Panov ("Alko-bufet Shashlychnaya") is the chef, and Sergey Kvasov (Riesling Boyz, Meat Puppets) is the brand chef. The menu at "Hamburgers" reflects the creators' vision of America, as seen through TV shows, commercials, and news broadcasts from the late 1980s and early 1990s. That's why the project is called "Hamburgers," not just "burgers," because that word wasn't even common back then. The menu features six types of hamburgers with homemade beef patties, and one with crispy chicken thigh on a light potato bun. These include the signature hamburger with bacon and roasted sweet potato, which moved from Meat Puppets (460 rubles), a hamburger with white mushrooms and truffle aioli (430 rubles), and one with crispy bacon, fried onions, and BBQ chocolate sauce (420 rubles). You can add an extra patty (150 rubles), bacon (60 rubles), cheese (60 rubles), jalapenos (50 rubles), or mushrooms (60 rubles) to any hamburger. In addition, guests can try the legendary hot dog from Meat Puppets (380 rubles), BBQ ribs with jalapenos (690 rubles), chicken Caesar salad (500 rubles), coleslaw (250 rubles), chicken strips (380 rubles), and french fries with sea salt and eight spices (280 rubles). "Hamburgers" offers seven homemade sauces: spicy, truffle aioli, Caesar, cheese, aioli, tomato, and BBQ chocolate (all 50 rubles). For dessert, you can order an "Oreo Cheesecake" (450 rubles), ice cream (60 rubles), or a "Brownie" served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and salted caramel sauce (400 rubles). For children and adults who aren't afraid of a sugar rush, there are milkshakes with strawberries and marshmallows (420 rubles), banana and cocoa (400 rubles), and chocolate with "Choco Boy" candies (450 rubles). The bar menu includes imported beer, cider, and 10 iconic "boomer" cocktails, such as "Tequila Sunrise" (550 rubles), "Blue Lagoon" (450 rubles), and "Cosmopolitan" (450 rubles), served with those classic straws and sparkly umbrellas. The menu also features cocktails in cans: "Rum and Coke," "Whiskey and Coke," and "Gin and Tonic" (400 rubles each). In addition, guests can try three signature shots and travel back to a time when many things were possible, but almost nothing was affordable: "Maracuya Yuppi," "Lemon Invite," and "Raspberry Zuko" (all 250 rubles). "Hamburgers" is more than just a burger joint; it's a place where you can watch movies dubbed by Vladimir Valadarsky on a vintage VHS player. The burger joint and video arcade has over 200 VHS tapes with films in the one-voice dubbing that is so familiar to everyone who was born in the last century. Anyone who brings a VHS tape from home is treated to a shot of homemade liquor, and movie screenings are held daily (Monday-Thursday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday-Saturday from 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM). The repertoire changes every week, and the current schedule can be found on the establishment's page on a certain social media platform with photos. The video arcade plans to host meet-and-greets with dubbing actors and autograph sessions, "movie nights" with popular bloggers on Fridays, horror movie screenings on Saturdays, and a "family day" on Sundays with cartoons and a special family combo: beer for dad, milkshake for the child. "Hamburgers" has 35 seats. The design project is by CozyBuro, and the interior design is by Elena Drumlevich ("Teburasi Bar," Riesling Boyz). The interior features a mirror with dozens of stickers and drawings from the 1990s, such as images of Metallica and "Beavis and Butt-Head," posters of popular artists from that era, a sofa with a pull-out bed, a vintage cabinet, as well as old imported packs of cigarettes and cans of beer and soda. Hamburgers, milkshakes, and movies on a VHS player. Is this the American dream?
