About
Grill and raw food options, a hundred varieties of whiskey in the bar, and a funk & soul atmosphere – this is the new standard for urban cafes, brought to you by Glen Ballis & Co.
Moscow, Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street, 21/18 Website Concept by: Glen Ballis, Ivan Kukarskikh, and Bogdan Panchenko ABOUT THE RESTAURANT A new project from chef Glen Ballis, Ivan Kukarskikh, and Bogdan Panchenko – a team from the Lucky Group (Lucky Izakaya Bar, Margarita Bistro) – has opened on Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street. "Timeless classics" is the main idea behind the Loro restaurant. In Italian, "loro" means "they" and "for them." And in this new project, the focus is on the restaurant's guests, high-quality food, personalized service, and even more attention to detail: from the custom-made uniforms for the waiters to the antique door handle in the Art Nouveau style. Glen Ballis has created a clear and concise menu. The cuisine at Loro is based on fresh, seasonal ingredients and pure flavors, featuring open-fire cooking and a modern take on traditional Italian cuisine: homemade pasta, antipasti with olives, prosciutto, tomatoes, mozzarella, and artichoke, Venetian-style liver, bone-in ribeye from young beef, Florentine steak – a special cut grilled to perfection. Fresh seafood is cooked over charcoal. The raw bar offers oysters, sea urchins, crab claws, and shrimp. The open kitchen at Loro is not only a functional space but also an integral part of the interior design, allowing guests to watch the chefs prepare meat on a built-in cutting board and over an open flame. The bar menu features approximately 100 varieties of whiskey, with a focus on Scotch, and a hidden cabinet showcasing an exclusive collection. The cocktail menu, created by the team led by Lucky Group's head bartender, Maxim Gorelik, includes a "Great Classic Cocktail Cart" featuring premium spirits (Old Fashioned, Bronx, Manhattan), as well as signature cocktails and non-alcoholic options. Of course, there's also a classic wine list with exceptional wines from the best vintages. The interior design by Living Now Studio is elegant in its color palette and decor. The finishes include valuable wood and restored antique brick. Antique details add to the atmosphere of timeless classics: vintage lighting fixtures, a wooden ceiling with carved elements, antique chairs from the Netherlands, a door handle designed based on sketches by Belgian architect Victor Horta, white tablecloths, and panoramic windows in the Art Nouveau style overlooking Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street. The carefully selected classic funk & soul music adds to the overall ambiance.
