About

The new Mediterranean restaurant, MEDI (a diminutive and endearing form of "Mediterranean"), is based on the cuisine of the countries and peoples living around the Mediterranean Sea.

The MEDI restaurant, located on Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street, is dedicated to the vibrant, flavorful, and generous Mediterranean culinary tradition. Even the name, MEDI, a diminutive of "Mediterranean," hints at this. The cuisine of the countries and peoples surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, from Greece to Spain, from Italy to Turkey, forms the foundation of the restaurant's concept. The interior, with its lacquered panels, terracotta tile floors, a ceiling adorned with naive floral and bird paintings, and art posters in the style of the 30s-60s, evokes the atmosphere of a yacht's salon, sailing between the main ports of the sea that has played a central role in human civilization. The menu features the quintessential elements of the Mediterranean tradition: a selection of mezes served with flatbread, the universally beloved Greek salad with a slice of creamy, salty feta cheese, octopus with miniature potatoes and vibrant cherry tomatoes on a branch, and a wide variety of homemade pasta. The entire menu at MEDI focuses on simple, everyday dishes where the nuances of preparation, the quality of the ingredients, and the precision of the execution are paramount. Chef Ivan Danilin oversees the kitchen, ensuring that MEDI becomes a restaurant that people can visit every day, simply for the pleasure of enjoying delicious food. The wine list at MEDI, curated by head sommelier Sofia Makanova, emphasizes Italian, Spanish, and Greek wines. It also takes into account the latest wine trends, including sparkling wines made using the classic method, Champagne, Burgundy, Russian wines, and a variety of Sauvignon Blancs and Rieslings. The restaurant's wine list features approximately 70 different labels. Hidden within the restaurant is a small bar, with a cocktail menu created by Denis Kaveshnikov. The menu begins with a section of spritzes, light and refreshing popular cocktails with recognizable flavors. While appearing minimalist, the cocktails are distinguished by striking details, such as gold frozen in the ice and other unique touches.
