About

Tatiana Melnikova's French bistro, complete with a bakery, is as cozy and charming as its French counterparts.

"Chère Maman" is Tatiana Melnikova's French bistro. On Tverskaya Street, we already have the Italian café "Maria Santa," the Georgian restaurant "Verteli," and the English pub "The Pig and Rose." And now, we have a French bakery. The concept is simple: sourdough bread baked in-house, handmade croissants, and a solid classic menu with timeless favorites: onion soup, steak with green butter, escargots, and sole in a white wine sauce.

Tverskaya Boulevard has long become a new focal point in the city, replacing Patriki. However, we remain true to our ideals – creating simple cafés for discerning people, so the prices are very reasonable. Although the newly opened bistro is as intimate as its French inspirations, we managed to find space for the bakery. It makes perfect sense – baking baguettes and making croissants every morning in the Parisian style. Fresh country bread makes the chicken pâté seem even more perfect, and it is. Happy residents of the neighborhood and visitors to "Chère Maman" often take fresh tartines and pastries with them. Those who enjoy French delicacies rarely make it to dessert, but it's worth it: the crème brûlée is a classic, and the chocolate tartlet with sea salt is divine – you can't go wrong, because everything is delicious.

The café, with its croissants, guarantees guests excellent breakfasts. The menu also includes the inevitable shakshuka with goat cheese, a comforting chicken broth with pâté on toast, hot quiches Lorraine, and an intriguing porridge made with millet, a poached egg, and sheep's cheese. In the mornings, we offer sparkling wine – it's so French. The bar is managed by Dmitry Katorgin. We always have French or peach Negronis, homemade blackcurrant liqueur, Bordeaux, and crème soda.

During the warmer months, a cozy veranda operates in the courtyard. Away from the city noise and the bustle of Tverskaya Street, you can enjoy something crispy, pair it with a Chablis, and take your time – after all, we're not in the crazy city of Paris. In front of the café, there are small French tables with beautiful wicker chairs. You can grab a quick bite or enjoy a dessert without rushing. We ourselves often linger outside with a cup of espresso and our beloved dog during our walks.
