About
A project from the founders of the international collective "The Times Band" to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
A new restaurant-bar, The Times Home, has opened its doors in a standalone building in the Novoslobodskaya district. This is a project created by the founders of the international collective, widely known in the Moscow event industry as "The Times Band." The opening of the restaurant was timed to coincide with the group's 10th anniversary. When creating their first music restaurant-bar, brothers Vitaly and Yuri Trubilo drew on their extensive experience from numerous restaurants in Moscow, as well as venues abroad where they performed. According to Yuri, the inspiration for creating their own collective, and later the restaurant, came from the Times Cafe in his native Belarus, which he had admired since childhood. The project was reminiscent of the perfectly crafted black and white newspaper The Times, where waiters wore black bow ties and white jackets, like James Bond. The idea of creating a cozy "home" where one could enjoy European cuisine with signature cocktails, accompanied by performances from resident musicians of "The Times Band" and vinyl DJs from the Big Bro Pro team, had been nurtured for many years and came to fruition this year. The goal was to create a compact, cozy, and versatile space suitable for both lunch or dinner and parties. The main hall features the "heart" of the project – an open community bar. The structure above it was designed in an industrial style, reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower. The rest of the ceiling above the hall is decorated with high-quality artificial greenery with lights to create the effect of a starry sky or a cluster of fireflies. A shelf displaying vinyl records is also noteworthy, many of which are personally signed and gifted to the "The Times Band" collective by famous artists. On the second floor of the space, there is a cozy VIP room that can accommodate up to twelve guests. During the summer months, the restaurant has a terrace, and plans are in place to make it a year-round feature. The kitchen is headed by David Simonyan, who has extensive professional experience working in the best Italian restaurants in Moscow (Semifreddo, under the guidance of Nino Graziano from 2009-2012, La Bottega Siciliana from 2012-2018, Butler and Buono from 2018-2024), under the mentorship of renowned chefs. The menu features predominantly European dishes with an emphasis on Italian cuisine, presented in a unique style. For example, David learned to prepare carpaccio and tartare from high-quality beef tenderloin, as well as Penne Arrabbiata and Spaghetti Carbonara, from the renowned Nino Graziano, a Michelin-starred chef. The menu also includes signature dishes such as spaghetti with shrimp, a cheeseburger, a Greek salad, borscht, and pork ribs, which were added based on feedback from the restaurant's guests. The restaurant also offers late breakfasts until 4:00 PM. A particular point of pride for the restaurant-bar is its cocktail menu, which features all the classic favorites: Pornstar Martini, Moscow Mule, Bellini, and others. The bartenders add freshly squeezed juice to the cocktails, which makes them richer in flavor. The wine list also boasts a wide selection from various regions, including Italy, France, the United States, Germany, New Zealand, and others. On Friday and Saturday evenings, there are performances by the colorful resident musicians of the international collective "The Times Band," and a vinyl DJ provides the music.
