About

Moscow is a city that has always been and will continue to be a magnet. And it is here, in a historic building designed by architect Konstantin Melnikov, on the site of the former "Svoboda" factory, that the "Moscow" Russian Billiards Club has opened – a large-scale, next-generation cultural and sports complex with a restaurant of the same name.

The "Rodina" group, led by businessman and developer Anton Viner and Vladimir Shchekin, is behind the restoration and revitalization of this constructivist landmark. The project team brought together leading architects, athletes, restaurateurs, and designers to create a place unlike any other in Russia – and perhaps, one that will never be replicated.

A history that has become a catalyst for growth. The building, constructed in 1927-1929 according to Melnikov's design, is a rare example of constructivism. Its shape resembles a cigar or a tank, and the layout was conceived as a transformable hall for a thousand people. After the war, the club was renovated, windows were bricked up, staircases were removed, and the interior was lost. In the early 2000s, the building was restored and became the "Surikov Hall" banquet hall. In 2025, on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of the architect, the building is undergoing a new transformation. The respectful restoration has preserved the historical form while imbuing the space with modern meaning and technology.

Billiards: a timeless strategy. Today, billiards is not only a sport but also an intellectual game that is once again gaining popularity. The "Moscow" Russian Billiards Club will be a symbol of this new era. It is a space for those who think strategically, appreciate culture, quality, and atmosphere. Here, billiards is a metaphor for leadership and precision. It is a place where like-minded people gather, creating the economy of a new era.

Scale and content. The new complex comprises 4,000 square meters of modern space: - The largest Russian billiards center in the country, with 21 tables, some of which are equipped with innovative digital technologies. - A 180-seat restaurant, "Moscow," serving cuisine from around the country. - A cigar club and karaoke room. - Private gaming areas. - A children's center. Each area is designed as part of a holistic philosophy: games as a way of thinking, communication as a way of collaboration, and cuisine as a map of Russian flavors. The interiors, designed by Viner Design Group (Alexandra Viner), carefully integrate constructivist lines with the warmth of wood, vibrant accents, and modern rhythms. When you step inside, you find yourself in a space where every detail contributes to a sense of scale and grandeur. High ceilings, constructivist lines, and light that refracts through the geometry of the interior. Here, the past meets the future – and it is felt in everything. The billiards tables stand like theatrical stages, ready for the game to begin. A game in which there is no room for chance. Every shot is a strategy, every movement a metaphor for precision and focus. Here, billiards transcends entertainment and becomes a language of intellect, sport, and dialogue.

The "Moscow" Restaurant: the gastronomic heart of the project. The restaurant "Moscow" occupies the first floor of the complex. And it is not just a part of the project – it is a world unto itself. It embodies the best that our country has to offer. The menu is a map of Russia. From Sakhalin sea urchins to Siberian berries, Bashkir cheeses to Daghestani meat. Each dish is a story, each presentation a bridge between a region and the capital. Chef Vladimir Shchepilov seeks out and discovers interesting dishes and products, updating them based on modern gastronomic trends. Menu excerpts: Far Eastern scallops with marinated fennel and cashew cream. Smoked mackerel with chopped tomatoes. Black Sea antipasti. Lamb with chickpea noodles and homemade cottage cheese. Murmansk quail with pumpkin puree and cranberries. Venison with three textures of parsnip. Kid goat with crushed wheat and carrot cream. Waffle tubes with vanilla cream. Honey cake with frozen milk ice cream. The bar continues this journey: cognacs from the Soviet era, rare port wines, digestifs, and infusions made from Russian herbs and berries, teas with the scent of forests and mountains. The wine list, curated by sommelier Alexander Zubkov, is a map of a new Russia: bold, vibrant, and multifaceted, with a focus on local producers. It is a rare opportunity to sample over 40 Russian wines by the glass or to discover wines from countries such as Lebanon, Greece, and Hungary.

The project team. Dmitry Petropavlovsky – Club manager, Russian champion, and winner of the Kremlin Cup. Vladimir Shchepilov – Chef, formerly of O2 Lounge at The Carlton Moscow. Alexander Zubkov – One of the most experienced sommeliers in the country. Kristina Tyurina – General manager with 20 years of experience in the premium segment.

Meanings for the future. The "Moscow" Russian Billiards Club is not just a club or a restaurant. It is a space of power, culture, and a new era. It brings together strategy and aesthetics, sport and intellect, gastronomy and art. It is a discovery that will launch a new wave of development for the city.
