NOUGE – A cozy urban bistro on Pokrovka from the Kalabasa team, offering wine and cocktails.
A new spot from the Kalabasa team has opened on Pokrovka – a cozy urban bistro with wine and cocktails. For 16 years, many have known Kalabasa as a famous cafe-confectionery with 6 types of Napoleons, 25 types of macarons, a signature menu, and a charming two-story space. The team has been preparing for the opening of this second project for a long time, carefully searching for the right location to create a place for every day, for any occasion, and at any time, and most importantly, to preserve the warmth and feeling of home that everyone experiences when they visit Kalabasa. NOUGE is a cozy bistro that has already opened on Pokrovka, where you can immediately sense the soul and aesthetics of the owners. Coffee lovers will be pleased to know that NOUGE will also offer coffee made with beans roasted in-house. The menu includes espresso-based coffee drinks, classic teas, and herbal infusions. The wine list for the project was curated by Yevgeny Kovalenko. His interpretation resulted in a modern, accessible, and versatile selection, ranging from familiar varieties and regions like Sauvignon from New Zealand, Riesling from Rheingau, or Californian Zinfandel, to the most contemporary and avant-garde options like Jara, Savoie, and natural wines and pet-nats. A "special" section will complement the main list, updated monthly with six wines from different regions of various wine-producing countries. This selection offers a "geography of wines" in small glasses. NOUGE is not just about wine, but also about cocktails. The concept of signature cocktails from head bartender Maxim Artemov is based on purity and transparency. He has created nine signature mixes. Guests are recommended to try the Yuzao cocktail (950 rubles), a floral and slightly mineral blend based on gin and sakura soju, which is balanced by a dry vermouth. Alternatively, try the Otcat (950 rubles), a rich and strong cocktail with a full flavor, a mango aroma, and a juicy pomegranate aftertaste. The menu is, of course, complemented by those special desserts that are synonymous with Kalabasa. Currently, the offerings include the Special Napoleon (750 rubles) and a Basque cheesecake (730 rubles), served with a caramel crust and pickled cranberries. "I realized that any place I open will be a home. At home, I work, relax, host guests with delicious wine, and always with delicious food. Kalabasa is a home in every sense. Now, we've imbued NOUGE with that same meaning. Another HOME, where you can enjoy delicious food and drinks, relax, work, have fun, host guests, and most importantly, live." – says Stanislava Kormanovskaya, the creator of the NOUGE and Kalabasa projects. NOUGE is the soul and atmosphere of the Kalabasa home, but now with wine, cocktails, and in the heart of Moscow.
