LoLo Balkan Bistro
About
In Serbia, "LoLo" is a term of endearment, while in Sochi, it represents an authentic Balkan bistro from the KITCHEN Family.
Nikola Pavlovic, a Serbian restaurateur from Yekaterinburg, carefully brought these dishes from his childhood near Belgrade to Sochi. Over four years, the KITCHEN Family team has successfully launched three projects in the Ural region: the flagship KITCHEN restaurant, the family-style bistro "Fartuk," and the KITCHEN at Pine Creek Golf Resort. Following the successful launch of the "Kurortny Roman" restaurant in the tourist area of Sochi, Nikola and his team decided to realize their long-held dream – a Balkan bistro – right on the shores of the Black Sea.
This charming, intimate bistro is located opposite the Marine Station. Inside, there are only six tables, with the majority of the seating on a spacious terrace – weather permitting. The vibrant and highly photogenic interior, designed by the Vandall studio, deserves special attention: the red walls and handcrafted decorations are worthy of appearing in the feeds of LoLo's guests.
The Balkan cuisine, heavily influenced by neighboring Turkey and Greece, fits perfectly into the Black Sea coast. Chef Alexander Britvin of LoLo (formerly of Metis in Yekaterinburg and "Kurortny Roman" in Sochi) creates dishes that are both familiar and surprisingly flavorful. Baked feta cheese (produced in Gelendzhik by Greek cheesemakers) is served with a tapenade of sun-dried tomatoes and capers, olives, and basil. The red pepper, beloved by Serbs (and matching the bistro's walls), is prepared in two ways at LoLo: roasted in a marinade and simmered into a vegetable paste called ajvar. The "pleskavica" – a Balkan burger with cheese and smoked bacon – is served with "kajmak" (a type of clotted cream), marinated cabbage, and a salad of fresh vegetables. And the delightful Serbian stuffed cabbage rolls, "sarma," are slow-cooked for 4 hours before being served with a sour cream mousse and a dusting of smoked bacon.
To complete the Balkan experience, LoLo offers Serbian "rakija," served in traditional crystal "chokani" glasses.
LoLo also incorporates local ingredients: Caucasian spices add color and flavor; colorful Kuban tomatoes garnish the salad with basil, olives, and Serbian "brynza" cheese; beef tenderloin is served with an aromatic oil infused with local smoked pears, and the layered pastry "bugatsa" is served with kumquat jam.
Breakfast, served from 9:00 AM, is another excellent reason to visit this charming establishment. Options include: six-minute eggs with salmon and avocado; "burek" with hot cheese, egg, and a feta mousse with olive chips; gluten-free oatmeal with chicken breast; or LoLo's signature breakfast: a fried egg with "ćevapi" (grilled minced meat), a freshly baked Balkan bread called "lepina" with cheese, ajvar, and a salad of colorful tomatoes with tzatziki. Trying everything and sharing it with loved ones is a must, accompanied by a glass of sparkling wine, which is served with breakfast to every guest.
Experience the hospitable spirit of the Balkans, be inspired by the vibrant design, and enjoy traditional dishes at LoLo, open daily from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
