KOME izakaya
About
A hub of Japanese culinary culture and the first izakaya in Irkutsk, where the art of Japanese hospitality meets Siberian warmth.
KOME (米, meaning "rice" in Japanese) is a modern izakaya offering guests a wide selection of Japanese appetizers, authentic Japanese dishes, and, of course, rice-based dishes. The bar menu features a wide variety of sake and signature cocktails. The creators of the project are Maria and Vadim Burmakov, known in Irkutsk for their successful dark kitchen project, Tenno sushi, which has earned a reputation as one of the best Japanese food delivery services in the city. This experience allowed them to create the concept of the perfect izakaya, combining high-quality ingredients, a professional approach to cooking, and a unique atmosphere. The head chef of KOME Izakaya is Tolegen Taskaraev, a talented chef with many years of experience working under the guidance of the renowned chef Denis Lima. Tolegen has managed kitchens at prestigious establishments such as Dragonfly izakaya in Kazakhstan and Lila izakaya bar in Cyprus. The interior of KOME Izakaya was designed by the Krasnoyarsk-based studio Left Design, known for its work on iconic projects such as SADKO, Tunguska, and 0.75 please. The two-level restaurant space accommodates 47 guests and features a modern, stylish design that creates a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Special attention has been paid to details: wall sconces and decorative elements symbolically resemble grains of rice, referencing the name of the project. Projections of natural and cultural motifs are an author's interpretation of noren, traditional Japanese curtains used to divide space. These elegant panels, serving as a focal point of the interior, evoke Japanese culture and fill the space with lightness and airiness. In the summer of 2026, a veranda is planned to be opened in the courtyard, accommodating 30 guests. Each drink on the bar menu embodies the philosophy of minimalist, refined, and concise Japanese style, combining the aesthetics of wabi-sabi with Siberian accents. The signature cocktails, developed with the participation of head bartender Alexander Tayursky, are served with a stunning presentation and a story, transforming each visit into a unique experience that cannot be replicated anywhere else.
