Hands Asian
About
Hands Asian, by Vyacheslav Kazakov (younger brother of the Hands neo-bistro), is a journey through the diverse and vibrant world of Asia, where, according to the concept's creators, only the freshest ingredients, contrasting flavors, and memorable combinations are used, both in the food and drink menus.
The Hands Asian restaurant-bar opened in the Khamovniki district, right next door to the Hands neo-bistro. This new establishment is like a journey through the diverse and vibrant world of Asia: fresh ingredients, contrasting flavors, and memorable combinations. Vyacheslav Kazakov himself heads the kitchen. In the chef's signature menu, he moves away from complex textures, but not from interesting combinations: the carefully balanced sauces and spices are what allow the product to be revealed in a new way. And the ingredients here are premium: Wagyu beef and oysters are from Japan, bluefin tuna is from Bangladesh, and the Japanese Akita Komachi rice is from Vietnam. Some seafood and rare fish, such as black cod and Pacific halibut, are delivered directly to the restaurant from the Russian seas, while fresh vegetables and herbs are purchased from farmers' markets.
The drinks at Hands Asian are a story in themselves. Roman Vize, "Best Bartender of Central Russia" according to the magazine "Sobaka.ru," as well as a champion and vice-champion of Russia, is responsible for the signature cocktails. He reveals the secrets of the flavors of Asian fruits and spices through original mixes, which are identified by numbers rather than names. No. 1 is a floral spritzer based on a linden infusion, Tibetan chamomile syrup, and pine resin soda. No. 3 hides a delicate creamy dessert made from a mix of vermouths with yogurt liqueur and cherry blossom syrup. For example, the author's version of the rum cocktail "Old Fashioned," with a subtle chili kick, can be found under No. 5. The wine list is curated by sommelier Dmitry Lyubchuk. At Hands Asian, he has assembled a collection of specialties that perfectly complement the Asian cuisine. This is why the wine selection in the restaurant's wine bar features wines with a lively acidity, particularly Rieslings and various Pét-Nats. Exotic options are also available: guests can enjoy Chinese baijiu or South Korean soju. These alcoholic beverages are served in handmade clay cups. There is also a worthy selection of sake, shochu, and umeshu, all from Japan. The interior of Hands Asian is designed in the style of a Japanese izakaya bar. The intimate space, with 30 seats, features natural materials, milky-gray and sandy tones, and all shades of dark wood. The open kitchen, with its curved shape, allows guests to watch the food being prepared, while the low seating at the bar, typical of izakaya bars, is comfortable for large groups and private meetings. Hands Asian is a gem not only for residents of Khamovniki but also for all city dwellers who love Asia.
