About

A coffee shop, café, and confectionery located in the historical heart of the city, on the site of the first coffee and chocolate shops in Yekaterinburg, which opened in the 18th century shortly after the city's founding.

The Grand Buffet Ekaterinburg restaurant is located in the historical heart of the city, on the site of the first coffee and chocolate shops in Yekaterinburg, which opened as early as the 18th century, shortly after the city's founding. On the ground floor of the "Europa" shopping center, guests are greeted by a two-meter-long display case filled with fresh pastries, which are a great value to take away. Large croissants, signature layered pastries called "kavalery" and "venzelya," brioche, and other baked goods are prepared in the center of the room, in full view of the guests, every morning. The restaurant's signature drink is authentic hot chocolate. It is made from cocoa beans sourced from Ecuador and Indonesia and roasted in Yekaterinburg using a bean-to-bar process specifically for the restaurant. The hot chocolate is served with homemade whipped cream and pairs perfectly with the fresh pastries. The coffee, made from 100% Arabica beans, is also roasted in Yekaterinburg to a special order. The international menu features the best breakfast dishes, comfortable everyday meals, and fresh desserts. Guests particularly enjoy the airy syrniki (cottage cheese pancakes), draniki (potato pancakes) with lightly salted salmon, dishes made with carefully selected Irbit eggs, porridge, and dietary options. The interior features artifacts and photographs curated in collaboration with specialists from the city's museums. For example, there is the very first map of Yekaterinburg from the time of the city's founders, which marks the location where the restaurant is now situated, and rare square coins minted at the Yekaterinburg mint. These coins had a unique square shape, which was very popular with Wilhelm de Gennin. However, the city residents complained that the heavy copper coins with their sharp corners were damaging their pockets, and they were soon replaced with round coins. The restaurant offers tours and workshops for those interested. Grand Buffet Ekaterinburg opened on the 299th anniversary of Yekaterinburg. To commemorate this occasion, a special batch of 299 croissants was baked, and a giant croissant, possibly the largest in the world, briefly appeared on the facade of the "Europa" shopping center.
