THEOBROMA
About
A conceptual restaurant and coffee shop where everything, from the dishes and drinks to the interior design, is dedicated to chocolate and cocoa beans in all their gastronomic diversity.
This conceptual restaurant and coffee shop, created by the team behind Amazing Cacao, is dedicated to chocolate and cocoa beans in all their gastronomic diversity. The name of the restaurant was chosen deliberately. Theobroma is a genus of trees found in the tropical forests of Central and South America, which bear fruits that produce cocoa beans. The Theobroma genus includes more than 20 species, the most famous of which are Theobroma cacao (the beloved cocoa), Theobroma grandiflorum or cupuaçu, Theobroma bicolor or mocambo, Theobroma subincanum or cupuí, and others. The name Theobroma translates to "food of the gods," and for good reason: cocoa fruits are among the oldest cultivated crops, known since the times of the ancient Maya and Olmec civilizations. The mission of THEOBROMA is to introduce residents of St. Petersburg and city visitors to real organic chocolate and a range of incredible flavor combinations that can be derived from cocoa beans and their closest relatives in the Theobroma genus. After all, cocoa is not just about desserts and drinks; it's a vast world of diverse flavor nuances, unexpected combinations, and amazing culinary discoveries. Chef Alexander Zuev helps to reveal the multifaceted nature of this amazing product. Every dish, from appetizers to soups, from main courses to lemonades, features ingredients derived from plants in the Theobroma genus and chocolate in some form. The interior of THEOBROMA is designed in a classic French style, as it was in France during the reign of Louis XIV that the fashion for chocolate began. One of the walls of the establishment is adorned with a large fresco – a copy of the famous painting by Jean-Baptiste Chardin, "A Cup of Chocolate" ("The Family of the Duke de Penthièvre"), the original of which is kept in Versailles. The spacious restaurant is conditionally divided into two zones: one features bright dining rooms with elegant tables and comfortable armchairs. The other is a coffee shop where you can enjoy cocoa, a cup of hot chocolate, a lemonade made with cupuaçu and sorrel, or an Affogato with a topping of hot chocolate, lemon myrtle, and elderflower-infused gin, and you can order desserts to enjoy on the spot or take away. For example, a poppy seed cake with raspberries, Bavarian vanilla cream, and white chocolate. Chocolate bars from Amazing Cacao are also sold here.
