Shikotan
About
Shikotan is a restaurant that offers guests a culinary journey, allowing them to delve into the depths of flavor and rediscover the cuisine of the sea.
The menu features gastronomic memories from the creators' travels to Ibiza, Santorini, Capri, Sicily, Corfu, and, of course, Shikotan. The star of the show is the diverse array of creatures from the ocean depths, served both raw and cooked. The recipes are gathered from around the world and reflect the aesthetics and culinary traditions of different countries. Here you'll find Japanese kushiyaki (from 500 rubles), lobster pasta (1490 rubles) that impressed the restaurant's founders so much that the chef recreated it based on their descriptions, and a Basque cheesecake with a unique miso caramel twist (790 rubles). The restaurant is named after an island in the Kuril archipelago, also called Shikotan, located in the Sakhalin region, literally at the edge of the world, where fishing is not a hobby but a way of life. And while the main attraction of Shikotan Island is a cape called "The Edge of the World" (which even appeared in the popular film about Robinson Crusoe), the main attraction of the restaurant is the seafood and fish. Each day of the week is dedicated to a specific "inhabitant" of the Pacific Ocean, and you can order oysters, sea urchins, shrimp, crab, and even lobster at cost! The wide variety of wines by the glass, offered at affordable prices, is a luxury that many Moscow restaurants cannot afford, but not at Shikotan. Everything is designed to create the perfect food pairing experience for the guest. The pride and heart of Shikotan are the aquarium and the refrigerated display case, which showcase all the stars of the underwater world. Each item is prepared and served in the most preferred way. The restaurant's main menu is diverse and extensive, and is not limited to just seafood: it also features a variety of salads, grilled meats, and unusual desserts. The restaurant's design, and much of its overall concept, is inspired by the work of contemporary artist Anastasia Ovsyannikova, "Performance. 2.0." It depicts 44 fish, all facing in the same direction, as fish are often a symbol of abundance in many cultures. The marine hues, turquoise and azure tones present in the interior, the minimalist forms with exquisite decorative elements, the soft, wood-inspired textures in a bohemian style, and the abundance of natural light create a stylish and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant's design was developed and implemented by Anna Makaykina, founder of the Arris Interiors bureau, in collaboration with the lead designer of the "Vlaeva Design" studio, Ksenia Vlaeva. It's said that you can't please everyone, but it seems that the restaurant team has managed to do just that! Thanks to the functional space, Shikotan is a comfortable place to visit, whether it's for a morning business meeting, a family lunch, or a romantic dinner. The restaurant has a convenient layout that is ideal for organizing events of various formats and sizes. Getting there by car is easy, thanks to the convenient parking lot located at the Trekhgornaya manufactory.
