Petrov-Vodkin is located in the very center of St. Petersburg, just a 2-minute walk from the Hermitage. The interior evokes the atmosphere of an establishment from the late 19th and early 20th centuries: muted wall colors, classic furniture, and dark wood paneling are used for the decor, along with carefully selected and restored antiques, including ornate mirrors in carved frames and oak buffets. The walls are adorned with reproductions of Petrov-Vodkin's paintings and works by his contemporaries. A unique touch is the graffiti-style murals on the walls, featuring reproductions of iconic Petrov-Vodkin paintings. The background music also deserves mention: Russian emigrants sing Russian songs, ranging from folk tunes to romantic ballads. This is a symbolic gesture, considering that the traditions of Russian restaurants were often preserved primarily abroad for a long time. Chef Stanislav Potemkin, a member of the Chaine des Rotisseurs, has been in charge of the restaurant's kitchen since its opening. During this time, the restaurant has been nominated and awarded numerous prizes by leading restaurant associations in St. Petersburg. The menu focuses on traditional Russian dishes, including antique recipes discovered by the chef in old cookbooks, as well as popular Russian and Soviet cuisine staples, which have been partially reinterpreted. You can find classics like Olivier salad, dumplings, beef Stroganoff, pancakes, potato pancakes with caviar, pike cutlets, and the renowned borscht, considered the best in the city. The restaurant also offers a selection of homemade liqueurs.
