About
Italian restaurant with a fresh perspective on cuisine, bar design, and ambiance, offering endless possibilities for new combinations and experiences.
NOME Italian Restaurant Objective: To create a trendy, memorable, and modern space. The goal was to incorporate a unique and "dynamic" element that would engage the customer's attention, prompting them to notice subtle changes. Challenge: The project required the creation of a completely new interior that would align with the restaurant's current objectives while preserving and integrating existing elements. A fresh and innovative facade design was needed to meet the strict architectural requirements of Moscow. Concept: The restaurant's concept is based on the idea of constant change in the world around us and the customer's ability to observe and recognize these changes. As guests move through the restaurant, their perception of the space shifts, allowing them to experience it from new perspectives. Solution: When designing the restaurant, we drew inspiration from nature and the natural changes that occur within it: sunsets and sunrises, tides, currents, and the passage of time. We wanted to emphasize that these changes happen every day, right before our eyes, but people often don't notice them unless they pay attention. This idea formed the foundation of the interior design concept. The space consists of two floors, each with a distinct atmosphere, but the goal was to create a unified concept and overall experience, despite the functional differences. To achieve this, we used the concept of day and night. The first floor represents the warmth of sunlight – both the bright hues of a sunset and the soft golden rays of sunrise. The interior is calm, with monochromatic shades of sand and terracotta, avoiding excessive colors, which aligns with modern trends. This floor houses a minimalist bar, complemented by bright details and materials. The bar's facade is made of brass with a gradient oxidation finish. The back of the bar features a panel of fluted glass with a dichroic film, showcasing a display of alcoholic beverages. The bar itself symbolizes the sun – a place of fire, joy, movement, life, and light. The bar is visible from the street, attracting attention and sparking curiosity. Adjacent to the bar is an open kitchen where chefs prepare pasta dishes that customers can purchase. Due to the architectural constraints of the space, a traditional coat check was not feasible. Instead, a mobile coat rack was implemented, which can be removed during the summer season to free up space and increase seating capacity. The second floor represents the "evening" atmosphere, with deep, rich colors. It embodies the sunset – a stunning display of colors: we balanced warm shades of red, yellow, and orange with cool blues and purples. A grand piano takes center stage, where guests can enjoy live music in the evenings. Artist Yevgenia Lampitskaya created the decorative elements and gradient for the second floor using materials from Decorici. The two-story space, with an atrium in the center, is a play of color and light. The walls change color depending on the angle of the light, and a selfie spot invites guests to capture their reflection in the unique lighting fixtures. The colorful chandeliers resemble either rolled-out dough or brightly colored clothes drying on a clothesline after a large Italian laundry day. This custom-made glass sculpture, created by the KIRINI glassblowing studio and located in the upper level, creates a variety of images and sparks the imagination. Several art installations are incorporated into the interior, consisting of a light fixture and two rotating glass panels with dichroic film, allowing for the creation of various color and light patterns on the walls. Guests can change the mood of the restaurant by adjusting the position of the light fixture. Several mirrors, made from the same material, are also present, altering the guest's perception of the room's color and allowing them to see themselves in a new light. These elements reinforce the initial concept of change, which will only be noticeable to the most observant guests. Particular attention was paid to the lighting design, in collaboration with the "Yarko-Yarko" team and the Aledo company, to ensure a comfortable atmosphere throughout the day. The walls and upholstery of the furniture contrast with various metallic surfaces. Brass, copper, mirrors, decorative elements, and flowing color gradients create a dynamic interior. Or, as Nome likes to say, each visit is a new experience.
