MYST Bar & Restaurant
About
MYST combines a restaurant serving comfort food, a bar with signature cocktails and parties, and a spacious courtyard. Each area of the space has its own concept and design.
The two-story space, covering 200 square meters, is MYST Bar & Restaurant, created by restaurateur and the driving force behind the iconic Moscow project "Simple Things," Irina Khodzinskaya. The name is a shortened version of the English word "mysterious." MYST combines a restaurant serving comfort food, a bar with signature cocktails and parties, and a spacious courtyard. Each area of the space has its own concept and design.
"When you walk along Belorusskaya Street, you're surrounded by the beauty of modern urbanism: concrete, asphalt, glass, and metal – the quintessential Moscow architecture. But just a few steps away, you find yourself in a large, cozy courtyard on Brestskaya Street. There are linden and chestnut trees all around, and in front of you is the facade of a stately mansion. You're inside the MYST space. On the first floor, there's a bar with a vibrant design, where mixologists create signature cocktails. On the second floor, there's a restaurant with a warm and inviting atmosphere, linen napkins on the tables, and perfectly executed dishes. From the windows, you can see the courtyard, covered in leaves. It's a complete feeling of having left the center of Moscow and entered a completely different dimension. That's what MYST is," says Irina Khodzinskaya.
Each area of MYST Bar & Restaurant has its own unique design. The interior design was created by the design bureau Apart 76, whose portfolio includes trendy Moscow projects such as Yauza Place, Blanc, and Radio Greenhouse. On the first floor, in the bar, there's an eclectic style with Art Deco elements. The emerald green art partition and the bar counter with its bright tile finish are eye-catching. The second floor, the restaurant, is completely different – light and airy: beige linen curtains, woven lamps, and tables for large groups create a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. Live plants in pots, rugs with ethnic patterns, and soft furniture in light colors are part of the space's philosophy. All these elements embody the concept of a small oasis in the heart of the city. MYST Bar & Restaurant has over 100 seats.
The bar is managed by Vitaly Ekimenko (Dry&Wet), a two-time best bartender in Russia according to Diageo Reserve World Class. He and his team have created a cocktail menu divided into three sections: "Emotions," "Flavors," and "Experiments." All the cocktails are priced the same – 800 rubles. "Emotions" are cocktails that evoke what's hidden inside. For example, the Bali Morning cocktail, made with gin, matcha, and sagan-dill, evokes nostalgia for the times when everyone spent the winter in Bali. The "Flavors" section features cocktails that are like journeys, allowing you to explore the past and future through different countries and local ingredients. Taiga Power, with gin, currant, and mint, is an elixir with a Siberian character, while Eastern Fairytale, with brandy and apricot, is an Eastern fairytale in a glass. "Experiments" are cocktails for those who are truly ready for something new: A Little Prince, made with rum, banana, and cheese, breaks flavor stereotypes and surprises with its presentation, featuring a half-moon. The bar team mixes the cocktails, but it's the guests who add the final touch, incorporating their own feelings and emotions into the moment. They can even froth the matcha themselves, choose fortune-telling coasters, and tell fortunes with the Love Is cards.
The cuisine at MYST can best be described as "Moscow comfort food." The "to share" section includes goat cheese with lavender honey and figs, or a bruschetta with smoked eel and shiso. Among the appetizers, you should try the tabbouleh with raspberries and grapefruit, or the scallops with strawberries and truffle ponzu. A whole section is dedicated to meat and fish from the "hosp," a traditional Spanish oven, and among the main courses, you can find homemade pasta made by hand or octopus with roasted peppers. The desserts at the restaurant are twists on classics: the éclair is baked in an XXL size, and the fondant hides a lava of matcha and white chocolate. The cocktail menu at the restaurant is completely different from the bar menu: all the cocktails (priced at 700 rubles) are designed according to the principles of food pairing, and the wine list includes 90 items.
MYST Bar & Restaurant plans to host cocktail guest appearances, special dinners, parties, and DJ sets on Fridays and Saturdays.
