About

"Modniki" is a cocktail bar designed for people with a refined taste and appreciation for life. It functions as a social club for 50 people who share a love for theater, literature, cocktails, and parties.

The main theme of the interior and the cocktail menu is inspired by the work of the legendary fashion photographer Helmut Newton. The concept for the bar was brought from Rome by one of the founders, Nikita Gusev (Shortlist Books & Spirits), after visiting the "Helmut Newton Legacy" exhibition. With investment capital in hand, the other co-owner, Alexander Dolgov, brought the bar-exhibition idea to life.

Vladislav Persidsky ("Inostrancy," Blind Tiger) is the managing partner and guest star of the bar. He created a special cocktail menu dedicated to Newton's biography, iconic works, and key symbols. A popular cocktail from the private tasting menu, "Andy Warhol," is inspired by a photograph of the artist in a blissful pose with his eyes closed, and the combination of milk oolong tea, lychee, and cactus creates a similar effect. The completely black cocktail "In Search of Dalí" visually demonstrates why black and white photographs are more impactful than any other. "Madonna," a tequila-based cocktail with coconut, will be a staple at parties, while "Heel," made with light rum and vanilla, highlights that it's not just a sexualized object, as favored by Newton, but also a great role model for any man.

The bar is more about the people than the cocktails, and among the confirmed partners of the project are some interesting names. Evgeny and Nikolai Zharinov will give lectures on literature, the FoShoo theater studio will perform an immersive play called "Bad Poets," and readings of poetry and lectures on philosophy and art will be part of the "Cultural Environment" project. The Rep chess club will be a regular on Thursdays, and on weekends, Modniki will host parties from the "Kruzhok" DJ collective and live performances.

Chef Stanislav Ivanov (Avocado Queen, Vasilchuki, Eggsellent) will ensure that guests are never hungry. He will focus on "small plates," with the menu primarily consisting of snacks and cocktail pairings. There's a selection of Spanish tapas (350₽) with ham, anchovies, chorizo, and roast beef, as well as two types of tartare (850₽). Among the more interesting items are choux pastries with pâté on buckwheat popcorn (450₽) and baked marinated peppers with truffle cheese (850₽). And, of course, there's the hearty "Reuben" sandwich (700₽) for the male audience.
