About

Medusa Asian kitchen bar, a new establishment in the "Mandarin" entertainment complex in Sochi, has opened its doors. It's a collaboration between Arkady Novikov, Anton Pinsky, and Family Garden Group. Its prime location on the beachfront, pan-Asian cuisine crafted by Australian chef Glen Ballis, and a sophisticated atmosphere all contribute to Medusa's commitment to pure, unadulterated flavors.

The philosophy of pan-Asian cuisine emphasizes careful preparation, so the project focuses on fresh ingredients, minimalist presentation, and a "farm-to-table" approach. "The key is for the chefs to understand the menu just by looking at it," says Glen, the project's head chef.

At the Sochi location, Australian chef Glen Ballis and a team led by Rustam Samedov, under the guidance of Family Garden Group's brand chef, Sergey Nosov, will be responsible for bringing the culinary expression of Eastern philosophy to life. Rustam previously worked as a chef at Novikov's "Sыrovarnya" in Voronezh, as well as at Ginza Project restaurants and projects in Kazakhstan. Sergey is a judge on "Hell's Kitchen," a professor at Novikov School, and a former brand chef at Novikov's "Sыrovarnya" chain.

The menu features rare ingredients sourced directly from Asia, as well as everything the sea and ocean have to offer. Glen Ballis's interpretation of Asian cuisine includes impeccable versions of classic rolls with crab, eel, salmon, and shrimp (from 750 rubles). A separate section features wok dishes, noodles, gyoza, and rice, staples of Asian cuisine, such as fried rice with curry, chicken, and pineapple (690 rubles).

Medusa's signature offerings include the legendary bowls, such as a full bowl of seafood in a chirashi mix with sashimi and tartare (1450 rubles), and a RAW bar where you can choose shrimp, scallops, or crab and have them wrapped in a handmade roll (made exclusively by hand!), sliced into sashimi, or prepared as sushi with varying levels of spiciness.

The bar menu expands on the traditional "seafood + white wine" pairing and introduces a gastronomic approach to sake, similar to traditional izakayas. In addition to Japanese spirits, there are cocktails with an Asian flair, such as a bergamot spritz, Japanese whiskey, and a pleasant tea selection.

Medusa's signature minimalist interior creates the perfect atmosphere for immersing yourself in the pan-Asian experience. The combination of soft turquoise, coral, and sand colors in the decor, along with live plants and large windows overlooking the surroundings – including the bar's summer terrace – creates a unique ambiance. At the heart of the establishment is an open kitchen, where you can observe the chefs' meticulous work.

Opening hours: Daily from 11:00 AM to 12:00 AM. Average check: 2000 rubles.
