About

A Russian-French restaurant with live music and a playful atmosphere – the restaurant's name is linked to a tightrope walker's theater, where Parisians in the early 19th century were entertained with comedies and pantomimes, some of which were quite risqué.

"Funambule" is a French and Russian restaurant with live music, located on Malaya Konyushennaya Street. We are situated in the heart of St. Petersburg. During the day, guests come for lunch or a cup of coffee with profiteroles, while in the evenings, we host concerts and offer our guests wine. The name "Funambule" is inspired by a tightrope walker's theater, where Parisians in the early 19th century were entertained with comedies and pantomimes. For the French audience of that time, it was a true spectacle. The spirit of witty jokes and subtle innuendoes, theatrical intrigue, and passion can still be felt at "Funambule" on Malaya Konyushennaya Street. The walls of the restaurant are adorned with photographs of street performances and reproductions of advertising posters. Every evening, a pianist plays jazz for the guests. On Saturdays, guest musicians join him, performing melodies from films and well-known French songs. Our menu at "Funambule" features over 50 dishes from French and Russian cuisine. You can try baked cheeses or herring with mustard sauce. For main courses, we offer flounder with croquettes and julienne, and duck confit served with a spiced pear. From Thursday to Sunday, we have oyster days, where the oysters are served with balsamic and onion sauce. From the Russian cuisine section, we offer homemade noodle soup and a Kiev-style cutlet, served with the chef's signature presentation. For dessert, we prepare a mille-feuille with strawberry tartare and bake an apple pie. The bar menu at "Funambule" features over twenty varieties of European wines for everyday enjoyment. From our unique selection, we offer a rosé wine from an unusual vineyard where the grapes are harvested exclusively at night. You can also order a bottle of Muscadet, which is aged on the lees to impart yeast and bread-like aromas, or enjoy champagne from a renowned house that was popular at St. Petersburg balls two hundred years ago.
