Culinary Journeys in a "Scandi-Boho" Atmosphere on Patriarch's Ponds
Cape is a restaurant offering culinary journeys in the heart of Patriarch's Ponds, with a vibrant menu, an intriguing history, a classic wine list, and a unique collection of signature cocktails. The restaurant's name, "Cape," refers not only to Cape Town, South Africa, where it originated, but also to the English word "cape," meaning a promontory or headland. Chef Arina Zhuravleva invites guests to embark on a journey to the Cap d'Antibes in France, with its luxurious villas and exclusive relaxation areas, or to the Cap de Gata in Spain, the southernmost point of continental Europe, or to the picturesque Cape Greco in southeastern Cyprus. The menu features dishes from various countries, including France, Spain, and Italy, with cosmopolitan accents from Asia, India, South America, and the Middle East. A key focus of the menu is seasonality, which means the menu will be updated frequently. Arina uses ripe seasonal peaches in a crudo of sea bass and a salad of colorful tomatoes with peaches, stracciatella, and prosciutto. She complements roasted thinly sliced potatoes and ravioli with duck with young chanterelle mushrooms. A green salad features marinated fennel and artichoke alongside edamame beans, avocado, broccoli, and a sorrel vinaigrette. A standout appetizer is a three-cheese filo pie with blue cheese, seasonal greens, Camembert ice cream, and salted cottage cheese. Arina is a master of sauces and recommends trying all the ingredients of each dish together to fully appreciate the culinary journey. Her delicate homemade potato gnocchi is served with shrimp, asparagus, young peas, and a Bérnaise sauce. A citrus risotto is paired with scallop tartare, while a crab cake is served with lemon beurre blanc and parsley powder. Arina's dishes are inventive and sophisticated comfort food, reflecting the concept of relaxed conversation over a glass of good wine or a cocktail, which has been at the heart of Cape since its inception. Anton Negin manages the restaurant's in-house bakery and pastry shop. Here, classic and rye-wheat tartines, Borodino bread, perfect buttery croissants, danishes, French rolls, and signature cookies are baked daily, along with incredible desserts and handmade chocolate candies with a variety of fillings. These true works of art from our bakers and pastry chefs can be enjoyed at the restaurant or given as gifts to loved ones in beautiful gift boxes tied with a branded ribbon. The classic wine list at Cape features wines from all the major wine regions, so guests with any preferences can find a wine to their liking. More than 20 wines on the list are available by the glass, thanks to the Coravin system, including nearly a dozen wines from South Africa, and even non-alcoholic wines. The cocktail menu, created by head bartender Vitaly Tsai, is a journey through the amazing corners of the planet, each of which is worth visiting at least once. The Rabbit Eye cocktail invites you to the Western Cape province in South Africa, named after one of the most popular blueberry varieties grown in the region. The Oracle cocktail offers a chance to consult with an ancient Greek oracle. Along with a refreshing white rum cocktail with melon and calamansi, guests are offered a real quill and ink to write a question or wish on special paper, then light it, thus appealing to higher powers. In Greek mythology, fire is also often associated with purification and renewal, so the idea of burning a problem you want to get rid of, or the name of an ex, also seems meaningful. The interior, inspired by the vibe of culinary improvisation, is described by Israeli designer Alona Eliasi as "Scandi-Boho" with a touch of bohemian chic. At the entrance to Cape, the energy of Patriarch's Ponds seems to flow into the lobby of a respectable hotel, where time stands still and geography loses its meaning. The only thing that matters is the food, which stimulates the senses and satisfies hunger.
