About

The Central House of Writers restaurant is located on Povarskaya Street in a historic Moscow mansion. The establishment positions itself as a museum-restaurant: in the 1960s, it housed a buffet for writers with restricted access, frequented by figures like Yevgeny Yevtushenko and Bella Akhmadulina. In the "Colorful Hall," autographs and drawings by poets from the 1960s are still visible on the walls. During the restoration of the interiors, three working fireplaces were restored, and the furniture and decor were carefully selected to recreate the atmosphere of an aristocratic mansion and a family salon.

The restaurant's cuisine is based on traditional Russian dishes with a modern twist. The menu features dishes such as jellied pike perch and salmon, duck pâté in a glazed apple, chicken wings stuffed with veal, day-old borscht, reindeer dumplings, and the Pozharskaya cutlet served with potato tartare. Among the desserts are poppy seed cake, dacquoise, and "Anna Pavlova" with lingonberries.

The restaurant's head chef is Fyodor Verin, who previously worked at the restaurant from 2014 to 2016 and returned in 2020. Before that, he worked at restaurants such as "Turandot," "Kasta Diva," Buono, and Uilliam's, and was involved in the opening of several establishments. The mansion also houses the "Our Heritage" gallery, which features a collection of paintings by Russian and Western European masters from the 19th and 20th centuries.
