About
Located in the sleepy town of Wangen, this pretty inn successfully combines the old and the new. A dedicated couple have been plying their trade here since 2005 – Matthias Brunner is in charge of the kitchen, while Bettina Brunner-Schill oversees the friendly front-of-house team. The cuisine has classical leanings with modern influences. Diners can choose between a seasonal and a vegetarian set menu (each with up to seven courses, featuring dishes such as "kingfish, pumpkin cannelloni, lemongrass" or "radish and tonburi ravioli, calamansi"), as well as a smaller "classics" menu. The wine pairings are well chosen. Speaking of wine: on your way into the restaurant, you can admire the impressive wine cellar through a glass floor. The lovely interior boasts an attractive 16C barrel-vaulted ceiling; in winter, an open fireplace enhances the warm and welcoming atmosphere. At lunchtime there is also a reasonably priced set menu. Serving traditional cuisine, the cosy, rustic-style Gaststube is a nice alternative to Badstube. Gasthof Sternen has comfortable guestrooms.
