About
This quintessential Chiemgau country inn, which is over 600 years old, blends tradition and modernity to delightful effect. Warm, aged wood and premium contemporary design elements are juxtaposed to make for a tasteful and comfortable setting. Headed up by Hannes Fussel, who has worked in some of Austria's finest kitchens, the team serves up dishes packed with flavour and personality that are very much inspired by the Chiemsee region. The set menu (aptly named "A Stroll through Chiemgau") features, for example, tenderly glazed sturgeon on a ragout of artichokes, accompanied by sauerkraut beurre blanc with Alpine caviar. The nibbles served beforehand are also fantastic – think crispy pastries filled with Chiemsee smoked eel mousse. Diners can opt to have a four- or six-course format of the menu, with wine pairings available on request. Alternatively, there is the second restaurant, Westerndorfer Stube. Landgasthof Karner has pretty guestrooms for overnight stays.
