NIU LAO DA (Zihciang 2nd Road)

Since 1996, NIU LAO DA has grown from a humble street stall into a local institution. Built on Tainan's beef soup tradition, it serves shabu-shabu hotpot made with fresh local beef delivered daily from Tainan and hand-cut in-house. The broth, made with beef bones, vegetables and fruit, boasts clean, light flavours with subtle sweetness. Hotpot is the main draw, but with their balanced flavours, the à la carte stir-fried beef dishes are also a must. Be sure to visit the self-service vegetable station and sample the pumpkin.
