Here's the story of how this place came to be, told by its founder:

"Hey, amigos! My name is Lars Vegans. I was born on the island of São Vicente, in southern Brazil, in the port city of Santos. I grew up in a large, modest Brazilian family. My father worked as a dockworker, and my mother was a teacher at the local school. While my parents were at work, I and other children would hang out in the city's favelas, enjoying the sounds of the "surdo" and "bongos," running on the roofs of shipping containers, peering into wooden crates, and collecting coffee beans that had spilled from the heavy sacks.

When it was time for siesta, we would return home, where my grandmother, Rosalina, would treat us to her signature "feijoada." I loved helping her in the kitchen. Together with my brothers, we would make "casadinha" and "empanadas" for dinner. I dreamed of one day venturing out into the vast world, following the path that every coffee bean took, from being filled with green beans to being packed and shipped. That journey took me through the rough neighborhoods of São Paulo on cargo trucks, through the portyards of Peter, and to the urban areas of Moscow. I came to conquer the capital of Russia, along with the coffee boom that was sweeping the country, the infectious samba, and the rhythms of Latin music. Not far from the center of Moscow, in the Butyrsky district, my partner, Sava, was receiving coffee shipments that were already being sold upon arrival in Peter. But the center of gravity was shifting, and where there used to be factories and warehouses, there are now confident and creative people who are shaping trends, formulating bold ideas, and creating new products. Our warehouse, filled with Brazilian coffee beans, suddenly transformed into a magnificent art district, surrounded by cafes, coffee shops, and stores! For 10 years, my partner Sava and I simply became part of the bakery, but what do you do when the stakes are raised...? And in place of the warehouse, a space was created for my friends. It didn't have a name – just an open, warm Brazilian soul, a smoking, sizzling grill, and people who gathered around my Latin hospitality and said to each other, "Hey, amigos! Let's meet at LARS VEGANS tonight." Las Vegas? Their Russian friends were puzzled, assuming they were about to enter a casino with croupiers and slot machines... But the only thing I have in common with Las Vegas is my love for games of chance, and my ability to have fun and spread that energy to others. Lars Vegans? Is that a vegan cafe? they wondered, but they ended up in a casual restaurant with an open kitchen, where my Brazilian friends grill juicy "picanha" steaks and any seafood they choose. All Brazilians love meat, and I'm no exception! But to avoid disappointing these people, we created a separate vegetarian section on the menu. On our grill, meat is cooked alongside corn, vegetables, tortillas, pineapples, and mangoes, because my homeland is rich in tropical fruits and vegetables. And I also love to cook colorful Brazilian dishes for my friends. "Casadinha" and "empanadas," the beloved "feijoada" and "muqueca" according to my grandmother Rosalina's recipes, "churros" and "nachos" that our aunt from Porto Manuelita used to treat us to.
