About

IKE (from the Tatar language, meaning "two," "dual," or "pair") is a restaurant that celebrates its hometown, embodying the cultural essence of each dish and the cherished traditions of two peoples.

This restaurant, located in the Republic of Tatarstan, is a tribute to the soul and spirit of the region. It preserves the traditions passed down through generations, reinterpreted by the head chef with a unique vision while maintaining the core principles. This is the fifth establishment created by the restaurateur couple, Alfia and Andrey Lohaniny (AA Group restaurant chain). However, it is the first one dedicated entirely to their hometown, Naberezhnye Chelny. The name "IKE" has two meanings and two interpretations, and this duality permeates the entire concept, from the historical name of the city (Naberezhnye Chelny was formerly known as the city of Brezhnev until 1988) to the two peoples, Russians and Tatars, who live in harmony. From the national elements in the interior design (representing two cultures) to the combination of traditional dishes (two cuisines), and from the architecture of the restaurant (two floors) to the paired names of menu items, this connection is subtly felt in every detail. The restaurant's name itself also has two aspects: a conceptual abbreviation and a translation from the Tatar language.

The interior is a delicate blend of history and modern aesthetic design. Soft, warm colors, painted elements, a collection of local dried flowers in handmade clay vases from local artisans, and hand-painted canvases on the walls – all evoke a sense of family heritage and the unity of Russian and Tatar cultures.

The menu is based on locally sourced products, all brought in from local farms. All dishes, spices, and sauces are made with ingredients from the region. The wine list is not defined by geographical origins, but rather, like the fabrics of both cultures – cotton, silk, velvet – it is characterized by its aromas and flavors. The beverage selection is also impressive, featuring interesting options such as vodka made from spelt (wild wheat), gin based on dandelion and burdock, and signature liqueurs that draw inspiration from the traditions of both cultures (such as borscht or beverages made with Tatar herbs). The warm, home-like atmosphere is further enhanced by samovars with traditional tea, and glasses of preserves.

Here, people speak and interact in two native languages. There is no clear division between the two cultures; instead, they blend seamlessly. This is a place about the city, about the people, and about unity.
