About

A Hungarian-themed bar and restaurant

"Falstart" is a bar and restaurant serving Hungarian cuisine, created by the same team behind the "Komnata Otdyha" bar, known for its "Baltic chic" concept, located near the Belorusskaya metro station: Andrey Petrov, Evgeny Goncharov, and Yegor Tyurin. In this new project, the creators have moved from the amber shores of the Baltic Sea to the banks of the blue Danube. At "Falstart," you can order classic Hungarian dishes such as the hearty goulash soup (530 rubles), crispy pork cracklings (370 rubles), Danube egg salad (310 rubles), catfish head jelly (350 rubles), or a lightly salted trout cake (520 rubles). The kitchen is overseen by Anatoly Belov, a chef and restaurateur from Hungary. In Budapest, Anatoly founded his own restaurant, Husikam. Previously, he worked in Chicago under the legendary Charlie Trotter, as well as in Vancouver at Happa Izakaya and Sooke Harbour House. Among Anatoly's signature dishes are "Testaflotillya" – a sailor's pasta dish (430 rubles), Viennese schnitzel (550 rubles), chicken paprikash (460 rubles), potato salad (370 rubles), and Hungarian meat candy (330 rubles) – phyllo pastry filled with goulash. The menu also features a selection of kebabs: chicken, pork, or duck (all 490 rubles). The bar menu offers 8 types of homemade infusions for 250 rubles each: lingonberry-grapefruit, kiwi-aloe, sea buckthorn-yuzu, lavender-jasmine-grape, pear-rhubarb-lime, coconut-white chocolate, "Sziget 2001" (gin, basil, lemon), named after the main Hungarian music festival, or "Gundel," inspired by the Hungarian dessert – Gundel-style chocolate crepes with a nut filling. A set of four different infusions costs 850 rubles. On tap at "Falstart" is "Fröccs," Hungary's signature summer drink – a mixture of wine and soda. You can also order Czech or Spanish beer, or stronger alcoholic beverages. The interior of "Falstart" is bright and features a lot of wood, as well as elements of glass and concrete. A distinctive feature of the decor is a legendary yellow Hungarian bus, an Ikarus 280, which was sought after and collected from all over Russia, and which adorns the walls of the bar and restaurant. The space was designed by Konstantin Belyaev, whose other projects include the "Profsoyuz" bar cluster, the "Kurort" bar and restaurant, and the "Komnata Otdyha" bar. The bar and restaurant has a total of 40 seats, and a cozy summer terrace can accommodate 20 guests.
