Chef-owner Samir Allen celebrates his Lebanese-Pākehā heritage here, where he rather cleverly takes over the tables in the arcade outside his tiny restaurant that the café opposite uses during the day. The sense of family is palpable, in the warm yet busy atmosphere, in the service which is both friendly and so well organised, and in the sharing of the keenly priced and delicious dishes. Start with homemade pide and the wonderfully creamy hummus; and you’ll be hard pressed to find juicier chicken thighs.
