Housed in a distinctive glass vault with an elegant interior and a magnificent view of the city, Schloss Mönchstein's fine dining restaurant is an impressive space. Simon Wagner, who previously worked at Schloss Schauenstein in Fürstenau and IGNIV by Andreas Caminada in Bad Ragaz, is in charge of the kitchen here. With great skill, he reinterprets Austrian culinary tradition with a creative twist. Diners have a choice of two set menus (one vegetarian) comprising four or six courses, plus optional wine pairings. Alternatively, there is an à la carte selection, and "grosses pièces" such as whole fish baked in a salt crust can be pre-ordered (minimum two people). Attentive service is provided by an adept front-of-house team. With its grounds and well-appointed guestrooms, this fabulous estate is a lovely place to spend the night. Convenient for motorists: Mönchstein car park is right next to the hotel.
