About
Italian fine dining is the order of the day in the restaurant of the stylish Mandarin Oriental Savoy, a hotel dating back to 1838. The restaurant is accessible via a separate entrance on Waaggasse. The interior is refined and elegant, the Italian cuisine of Dario Moresco creative and modern – the dishes often play with bold contrasts, yet remain beautifully balanced. Executed with subtle finesse and a memorable flavour profile, a standout is the gossamer-thin, delicate nettle tagliolini, nicely al dente and served with buttermilk sauce, segments of a remarkably aromatic poached oyster and a savoury, briny sea fennel pesto. In the evening, diners can choose between two tasting menus: one highlighting seasonal ingredients, the other showcasing the chef's signature classics. The cheese selection, presented on a classic trolley, is a highlight. Tip: In summer, a detour to the rooftop terrace for an aperitif is well worth it. At lunchtime, the "business lunch" also draws a crowd. The culinary patron is Antonio Guida of the two-MICHELIN-starred Seta by Antonio Guida in Milan.
