Moscow Delhi is a restaurant specializing in Indian and Nepalese cuisine, prepared using a wood-fired oven and tandoor ovens. The recipes were collected by the founders during their travels through India and Nepal – from Rajput homes to Nepalese street food vendors. The restaurant operates without a fixed menu, ensuring that guests only receive freshly prepared dishes. They make homemade cheese from farm milk, grind flour, bake bread, hand-grind spices, and produce almond milk.
The restaurant's story began in 2013 when the founders, who previously worked as directors and film producers, opened their first kitchen in a former Russian manufacturing facility in the Kitay-Gorod district. The idea originated after a trip to the village of Kasol in the Parvati Valley, where they were impressed by the lifestyle and hospitality of a local woman. Three years later, with the participation of partner Dima Sergeev, the project moved to a new space featuring a large wood-fired oven, a counter, and a folding windowsill that serves as a stage for concerts and theatrical performances.
The interior is designed so that guests are seated directly in the kitchen – the restaurant's operations are open to visitors. The restaurant also has a shop where they prepare and package homemade ladoos and spices – garam masala, curry powder, chaat masala, sambar, and tea.
