Mishka
About
Mishka is a restaurant offering comfort food, blending European and modern Russian cuisine. Here, classic Russian recipes are given a new twist, and international favorites are presented in unexpected ways.
The restaurant subtly incorporates a sense of national identity: the warmth and naturalness of wood harmoniously blend with the aesthetics of modern Russian cuisine. Mishka is a welcoming, friendly, nature-loving urban space that offers comfort food every day – dishes that evoke pleasant childhood memories, reminiscent of the meals prepared by mothers and grandmothers. Classic Russian recipes are given a new twist, and international favorites are presented in unexpected ways. However, the restaurant also embraces other gastronomic trends, ensuring that every guest can find something to their liking and leave satisfied, impressed by the delicious food and excellent service.
However, Mishka is not just a children's fairy tale or a "Russia through the eyes of a foreigner" – it's more like a looking glass, where one can explore the depth of Russian identity, discover the gastronomic culture that has evolved over centuries, and experience the "broad Russian soul," which is always open and welcoming, ready to embrace the values of the rest of the world in a unified project. This idea is reflected in the very name Mishka – a familiar, understandable Russian word written in Latin.
The two-level space of the restaurant allows for a variety of scenarios, responding to the multifaceted nature of modern life in a metropolis. During the day, you can go to the upper floor with a fireplace, where the atmosphere is conducive to leisurely conversations. In the evenings, on weekends, the hall is filled with music and energy, as a DJ plays trendy sets. The lower level is a more intimate space with an open kitchen and an aquarium, where you can meet with loved ones and friends or find a quiet place during the hustle and bustle of the workday.
The interior of the restaurant combines a cozy, homey atmosphere with natural motifs, creating a trendy, minimalist design. The abundance of natural wood, knitted panels, mushroom-shaped lamps, a fireplace that resembles a forest fire, mirrored elements that evoke forests and lakes – all reflect the wonderful diversity of our homeland. At the same time, there is a subtle Scandinavian touch – the interior is not cluttered with details; each element is in its place, maintaining a sense of order. The combination of urban and natural elements is achieved through the richness of textures of natural materials, and the warm, natural tones and textures create a sense of relaxation and immersion in nature.
The menu, created by chef Ruslan Petrov (formerly of My Zvezda by Novikov, Twins Garden, Wine&Crab), features familiar, local, and almost home-style dishes alongside cosmopolitan tartares, burgers, and seafood. The menu also includes dishes made with game meat – venison sourced from a local hunting farm. A burrata is specially made for the restaurant on a farm – try the truffle burrata with tomatoes (1050 rubles).
"I've developed a unique and diverse menu that combines traditional Russian dishes with elements of modern cuisine. My goal is to create an atmosphere of comfort and warmth, offering guests unforgettable taste experiences. I'm proud that I've been able to combine classic recipes with innovative approaches, making the menu not only delicious but also stylish," says Ruslan Petrov.
This approach is evident in many of the dishes: the beef borscht with smoked sour cream (570 rubles), beef cheeks with ptitim and spinach (1200 rubles), and the fragrant, rich goulash soup with the most tender meat (500 rubles). The venison steak with puree and cranberry sauce (1250 rubles) also boasts a delicate texture. The traditional Russian grain, buckwheat, is presented in various interpretations: green buckwheat is served with chanterelles and porcini mushrooms (700 rubles), while sprouted buckwheat is a side dish for roasted chicken (1100 rubles). The fish cutlets with vegetables in a cream sauce (800 rubles) have nothing to do with the Soviet-era versions: the filling is made with milk, cod, and salmon, and the dish is served on a bed of broccoli and cauliflower in a cream sauce. River trout, which is abundant in Russian rivers, is served on a tomato salsa bed (1100 rubles).
It's worth noting the unusual appetizers: smoked pike riet (350 rubles) and chicken liver pate with pine cones (420 rubles) – each has that familiar local touch that connects us to our roots. The burger made with marbled beef and truffle (900 rubles) and the signature Mishka burger with fries (1100 rubles) – made with real bear meat – are dishes that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
The bar is overseen by head bartender Ilya Netsvetayev (Sapiens, Buro TSUM, Sososo Bistro), who offers a fresh, clean, and vibrant cocktail menu with drinks made with berries and herbs, based on the principles of harmony and interesting, warm flavors. You could draw a parallel: Mishka, the master of the forest, who has found himself in the concrete jungle, has brought all the gifts of nature with him.
In winter, the Baked Apple (900 rubles) – a cocktail made with baked apples, cinnamon, and sweetened with maple syrup and vodka – is perfect for warming up. The Tartness (900 rubles) is a tart, gastronomic cocktail with a cordial made from astringent blackcurrant and caraway-infused vodka. This is an organic and unusual combination that complements meat and "wild" dishes. The Mishka Cosmo (900 rubles) is a chef's take on the classic Cosmopolitan cocktail, with the addition of blackcurrant cordial – again, that familiar local touch. Be sure to try the other cocktails – we're confident that everyone will find their own unique blend.
However, this is more than just fitting for the Mishka restaurant. It's a place where borscht and sea urchin coexist, where a DJ plays alongside a quiet, warm fireplace, and where you can find both a prime location on one of Moscow's most expensive streets and affordable prices. Mishka brings together tradition and modernity, inviting them into a dialogue – or rather, a friendly, leisurely conversation by that very fireplace.
