A family-style feast, with a large wooden table laden with food. Hands pouring wine from clay jugs. Lively conversations, with arguments in some places and laughter in others. Simple, yet beloved, dishes. Hot, freshly baked khachapuri. Ripe vegetables. Juicy khinkali, bursting with juice. You feel like you might not be able to eat another bite, but you can't stop, as someone gently serves you more, wishing you a pleasant appetite. This is our vision of a family restaurant, "Mariko": hospitality, family bonds, and food that everyone loves. In our harsh and cold region, where the temperature rarely rises above twenty degrees, we wanted to create a truly summery and cozy space for our guests, a place that evokes the feeling of a warm country. Based on this idea, the interior uses predominantly warm, natural colors and tactile materials. For example, a wall with a traditional pattern that you want to touch, a shelf with clay pots, and wine kvevri adapted as a sink in the restroom. Every detail evokes the feeling of a warm Georgian grandmother's home, where you come to spend the summer. We have tried to incorporate different types of relaxation that our guests can choose from. Georgia is known for its lively feasts, so the restaurant has a separate area for "veselidze" with karaoke and live performances by a band. There is also a children's room with plenty of entertainment for our younger guests. As part of the concept, the restaurant "Mariko" has mascot characters: a family where the mother, Mariko, is in charge of hospitality, the father, Aliko, is responsible for the robust wine and the grill, and their children, Suliko and Tito, entertain the little guests of our restaurant. Through these characters, we share traditions and customs that are familiar to families in Georgia on social media, and we share the history of recipes, immersing our guests not just in the atmosphere of the restaurant, but in our welcoming family.
