Made in China

About

Modern Asian food and bar. Since the "Made in China" label can be found on absolutely any item of any origin, any cuisine can be "Made in China" – so in this trendy St. Petersburg restaurant with that name, Chinese dishes are interspersed with Peruvian, Hawaiian, Japanese, and Mexican options.

The concept was created by Anna Dolgushina, Madina Kazimova, Pavel Shteynlukht, and Ilya Bazarsky. St. Petersburg http://madeinchina.spb.ru/ About the restaurant "Made in China" is a reincarnation and development of the Black China bar, which was located on Baskov Lane. Made in China has managed to incorporate the best aspects of the previous project and develop the concept in a new location, but on a larger scale. Now it is a joint project of two restaurant teams: Anna Dolgushina and Madina Kazimova (Wong Kar Wine, Black China bar), and Ilya Bazarsky with Pavel Shteynlukht (Bekitzer, Terminal bar, Social club, Schengen). This synergy allows Made in China to balance between the formats of a gastronomic Asian cafe and the first Asian bar in the city. The comprehensive and carefully curated menu features unique Asian recipes borrowed from the cuisines of China, Korea, and Japan: bao buns with various fillings, pork belly with kimchi cabbage, salmon tempura with squid ink, several types of delicate dumplings and gyoza, tataki, glazed duck with quinoa, and much more. Mochi, a Japanese dessert made from rice flour with a berry filling, has already become a signature dish of the establishment. The bar menu features a collection of Japanese, Korean, and Chinese spirits: Chinese vodkas, soju, setu, and sake (this popular section offers options with citrus, vanilla, or pepper). Fresh and unconventional drinks are the hallmark of the bartenders at Made in China, and experiments with saffron gin and chili liqueur have become an integral part of the genre. The wine list, curated by Anna Dolgushina, is more traditional and familiar to European tastes, featuring well-known Rieslings, Sauvignons, and Pinot Noirs, which are carefully selected to complement the cuisine and subtly enhance the flavors of the dishes. The list also includes natural biodynamic wineries and unusual regions with interesting offerings. Made in China has eighty seats, evenly distributed on two levels. The first level is a large hall with a bar and shelves filled with unique alcoholic beverages. The second level is a historic mezzanine, from which it is pleasant to watch the bartenders at work and everything that is happening below. The atmosphere on weekends is enhanced by DJ sets from well-known music lovers in the city. The interior design was created by the team at DA Architects: the architects preserved the original marble, Art Nouveau railings, and moldings on the ceiling, but also noticeably lightened the space with modern interior details, light-colored walls, and light wooden structures.
