Café, bistro, restaurant – this family-run establishment in the compact pedestrian area of Rutesheim is all of the above. Opened in 1987 as a café by Mr & Mrs Striegel (both pastry chefs), it has since blossomed into a sophisticated restaurant. Breakfast and lunch, as well as coffee and cake are served during the day; in the evening, Tim Striegel (the son) serves up his fine dining concept. The set menu comprises three to five imaginative courses, each meticulously prepared using excellent ingredients – the "Norway lobster, cauliflower, yuzu, almond" and "venison from the Leonberg hunt, celery, cranberry, parsley" are two cases in point. Harmonious wine pairings are also available on request. The predominantly German wine list is appealing. N.B. In July and August, à la carte dishes and a small surprise menu are served on the terrace in the evening – the fine dining menu is suspended during this period.
