About

"Chizhik-Pyzhik" is a traditional Russian drinking establishment designed to evoke the atmosphere of St. Petersburg's elegant entrances from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and featuring a statue of the famous "Chizhik-Pyzhik." And all of this is located in Moscow.

"Chizhik-Pyzhik" is a cultural hub of St. Petersburg, right in the heart of Moscow. In Imperial Russia, "chizhik-pyzhiks" were educated noble cadets from St. Petersburg who enjoyed socializing and drinking vodka on the Fontanka canal, which inspired the well-known children's rhyme: "Chizhik-Pyzhik, where were you? Drinking vodka on the Fontanka! He drank one glass, then two, And his head started to spin!"

The St. Petersburg-style drinking establishment continues the tradition of "refined revelry" of that era and offers guests classic dishes from the late 19th century, such as rassolnik (a sour soup), smoked Baltic herring (both hot and cold smoked), and Baltic sprat with egg, accompanied by homemade infusions made from rowan berries, horseradish, cranberries, and elderberries. The project was created by experienced restaurateurs Dmitry Levitsky and Gosha Karpenko (founders of HURMA Group, the GASTREET festival, the "Profsoyuz" bar cluster, "Alko-bufet Shashlychnaya," RIESLING BOYZ, and others), as well as Yuri Levitas (Black Star Burger, FREE & CO, Fob's Coffee, G-YU). At "Chizhik-Pyzhik," you can order sprat in tomato sauce (150 rubles), dried Baltic herring (300 rubles), homemade sauerkraut and pickled cucumbers (150 rubles each), as well as red caviar (2000 rubles/100 g) and black caviar (3000 rubles/50 g). For main courses, "Chizhik" offers guests the opportunity to try the signature "Leningrad" rassolnik (300 rubles), smoked chicken with potatoes, minced beef kebab (350 rubles each), and sausages with green peas (300 rubles). In addition, guests of the drinking establishment should pay attention to the sandwich selection (all 150 rubles): with herring and mustard sauce, with Baltic sprat and egg, with sprats and fresh cucumber, with Krakow sausage, and with lard and mustard. The bar menu is curated by Sergey Lysak and Pavel Safonov (formerly of "Pushkin" and Maison Dellos). They have created more than ten varieties of homemade infusions (all 150 rubles): strong "Borodinsky" rye bread-infused vodka, horseradish vodka, pepper vodka, and tomato vodka, as well as sweet infusions made with dates, lingonberries, cranberries, apples, or "apple pie" and "rowan berries in cognac." In addition to these, the bar menu features distillates (mulberry, grape, or rye samogon, 250 rubles each), hazelnut and plum schnapps (490 rubles each), chacha (390 rubles), Serbian rakiya made with pear/quince (390 rubles), and several variations of the famous "Yorsh" cocktail: the classic version with light beer and vodka (190/360 rubles) and a special version with dark or wheat beer and any infusion of your choice (240/440 rubles). The design of "Chizhik-Pyzhik" is inspired by the aesthetics of St. Petersburg's elegant entrances from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The drinking establishment has 50 seats, and an additional 20 guests can be accommodated on the veranda, near the statue of the famous "Chizhik-Pyzhik."
