About
Whether you hike up or take the mountain railway (ideal from Vitznau), it's well worth stopping off here. The location is idyllic – at 1 550m above sea level, the terrace is wonderful – and the "natural cuisine" is another big attraction! Many of the ingredients are drawn from the immediate surroundings or harvested from the restaurant's own garden. The menu features smaller plates and regular dishes such as "terroir burger", ragout or medium-rare cuts of Rigi organic beef. Vegetarian options include organic potato gnocchi or "Alpine omelette". Friendly and well-informed staff talk you through the individual ingredients. And as an apéritif, why not try an alcohol-free"Chrüterwässer" made with garden herb extracts and cherry juice? Both the Bistro, for lunch, and fine dining restaurant, Regina Montium, for dinner, are housed in Kräuterhotel Edelweiss, where you can stay overnight after your meal.
