Picturesque Linschoten is worth a visit in its own right, but be sure to seek out this beautifully converted grocery shop with its distinctive spiral staircase, a stone's throw from the leaning clock tower. This is old Dutch charm at its best! Chef-patron Carel Alberts welcomes you personally before going on to showcase his expertise in the French classics, with the occasional Mediterranean flourish. Wonderful local produce, intense sauces, respect for tradition: it all makes for an enjoyable culinary experience. Take, for example, the generous duck breast dish with a jus from the duck itself, laced with just the right amount of chilli, served with accompaniments such as roasted cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. Ask the chef about his wine list; he will be happy to elaborate. The Bib Gourmand set menu is always a good choice!
