This house is located near the Moorish castle and was designed with heart, as a tribute to the city’s history; little wonder it has two terraces with spectacular views over Tavira and the Gilão River. The attentive couple who run it, with Cláudia Abrantes watching over everything in the dining room and her husband, chef Luís Brito, at the helm of the stoves, spare no effort to make the experience perfect. The concept, always seeking balance between vegetables and seafood, unfolds as a sensory and emotional journey through Portuguese flavours via two tasting menus: for lunch, A viagem do sabor (5 courses) and Entre momentos (6 courses); and for dinner, A viagem do sabor (6 courses) and Toda a viagem (9 courses), as well as a small à la carte menu. Curious details? The petit fours will surprise you, presented on a ceramic piece adorned with figures of animals, musicians and horsemen, echoing one found in an archaeological dig by the city walls.
