About
From a kitchen assistant to head chef, and then to co-owner of his own restaurant in the historical center of St. Petersburg. The career of Moscow-based chef Yuri Manchuk began in 2004: immediately after culinary school, he joined the legendary Correa's on Bolshaya Gruzinskaya. Here, Yuri learned everything through practical experience: he cleaned vegetables, prepared ingredients, and baked pizzas. After a few years, colleagues from the Ginza Project restaurant group invited Yuri to St. Petersburg. Starting at Tiffany cafe, he later joined the opening of the Terrassa restaurant. Here, as sous chef, he coordinated the work of over 200 kitchen staff. In 2009, Yuri became the head chef on the Volga Volga river cruise ship. This popular floating restaurant, frequented by St. Petersburg's elite, has hosted the president and prime minister on several occasions. At the same time, Yuri helped establish the kitchens of "Mari Vanna" in London and New York. After working on several other Eastern cuisine projects with Ginza Project, Yuri decided to venture out on his own, opening his own restaurant, Charlie, in the center of St. Petersburg at 54 Griboyedov Canal. The restaurant is known not only for its breakfast with sparkling wine and its innovative cuisine, but also for its legendary Instagram-worthy wall with flamingos. Yuri has repeatedly participated in culinary projects, conducting masterclasses at the "Bokal i Ryumka" festival and speaking at GASTREET, Megustro, "Zavtrak Shefa," "O, da, eda!" and other events.
