In 2017, Lilia Medzhamarashvili's restaurants, "Darbazi" and "Sakhli," received recognition from the Gault & Millau restaurant guide, earning two and one toque (chef's hat) respectively. "Sakhli" was also included in the French "La Liste" in the same year. In 2022, "Darbazi" was recognized by the Michelin Guide.
She was born on October 22, 1958, in Sukhumi, where she spent her childhood, attended school, and graduated from the philology department of the Abkhaz State University. She received a technical education in Moscow. After university, she taught Russian as a foreign language at the postgraduate program of the Georgian Institute of Subtropical Agriculture. She is passionate about painting, and some of her works can be found in Lilia's restaurants.
